Cream Cheese Frosting
If you love cream cheese you will love this simple sweet and tangy cream cheese frosting! It has that beautiful smooth texture that you expect from cream cheese and that delightful bite that just puts this icing over the edge. If you want the icing to be thicker, for instance, if you wanted to make special decorations on a cake, just add more powdered sugar after you add the vanilla until it is at the desired consistency. Enjoy!
Ingredients
- cream cheese (room temperature) - 8 oz.
- unsalted butter (room temperature) - 6 tbs
- salt - 1 tsp
- powdered sugar - 2 cups
- vanilla extract - 1 tbs.
Instructions
- With an electric mixture, using a whisk attachment, beat the cream cheese, salt, and butter until light and fluffy.
- Add powdered sugar to the mix and mix on low until incorporated.
- Add the vanilla.
- (Optional) At this point, if you want the icing to be a thicker more stiff consistency, just add more powdered sugar until the desired consistency has been reached.
- Decorate with the icing immediately or chill in the refrigerator. If it is too stiff after you put it in the refrigerator, just take it out and beat it until it is nice and smooth again.
