Stovetop Chickpea Snacks
As a gluten free snacker, my options are often limited. Sometimes you can find a good selection of gluten free snacks at the store, but they are usually pretty expensive! So, here is a cheap and deeply satisfying alternative for all you money conscious gluten free folks. One can of ORGANIC chickpeas costs $0.92 ya'll. It's kinda hard to beat that!
These things were so good I just started eating them out of the pan. Even the kids loved them! This could be a great alternative for snacks or side dishes in your kids lunch bag. You can store these in the fridge or out on the counter in some kind of container. I don't know how long they will last because, well, they just don't.
Enjoy!
Ingredients
- chickpeas (garbonzo beans) - 1 can
- salt - 1/2-1 tsp
- olive oil - 2 tbs.
Instructions
- Put the oil into a medium frying pan and turn the heat onto medium. Let the oil heat up until it fizzes when you splash drops of water into it.
- Add the chickpeas and let them sit there (UNTOUCHED) for about 4 minutes or until the bottoms look quite brown but not burnt.
- Add the salt to the chickpeas and stir them. Leave on the stove for about another 2 minutes or until all sides of the chickpeas have a beautiful golden brown color.
- Enjoy!
